How much are pilates classes?

Updated

A pilates class costs a median of $39 as a single drop-in, based on 61 studios in our directory that publish a price. Drop-ins range from $10 to $99. Class packs and memberships cut the per-class cost, private sessions cost more, and many studios discount your first class or first week.

Where these numbers come from

Many pilates price guides quote a range with no source. Ours come from the prices studios publish on their Google business listings, which we collect and match to each studio in the directory. The drop-in figures above use only studios that list a single-class price, and the count tells you how many that is. Directory data was last checked on Oct 6, 2026. The methodology page explains how we collect and check it.

Prices change. Treat any figure here as a starting point and confirm on the studio’s own site before you pay.

What each way of paying costs

Studios sell the same class in several ways. The cheapest per class is rarely the cheapest per month.

How you pay What it is What to expect
Intro offer A free or discounted first class, or a cheap first week or pack Often the lowest price you’ll pay. Club Pilates’ intro class is free[3]
Drop-in One class, no commitment Median $39 in our directory
Class pack 5, 10 or 20 classes paid up front, with an expiry date Lower per class than a drop-in; check the expiry
Monthly membership A set number of classes a month, or unlimited Lowest per class if you use it; billed whether you go or not
Private session One student, one instructor More than a group class; usually priced per session or in packs

A chain benchmark: Club Pilates

Club Pilates publishes national price ranges, which makes it a useful benchmark. Its studios set their own prices[2], inside these ranges[1]:

  • Drop-in: $25 to $52
  • 4 classes a month: $79 to $169
  • 8 classes a month: $139 to $305
  • Unlimited: $189 to $397 a month

Club Pilates says its memberships save up to 20%, 30% and 40% against a drop-in for the 4-class, 8-class and Unlimited plans[2]. Fees, per-class math and the plans without published prices are on Club Pilates prices.

Why pilates costs more than a gym class

Reformer classes need one machine per student, and a room only fits so many. Fewer students share each instructor’s wage and the rent. Mat classes need only floor space, so they usually cost less, and gyms and community centers often include them in a membership.

Location matters too. The same chain can charge very different prices in different cities: Club Pilates’ 8-class plan runs from $139 at one studio to $305 at another[1].

How to pay less

  1. Take the intro offer at several studios before you commit to one.
  2. Buy the plan you’ll use. Count the classes you took last month, not the ones you plan to take.
  3. Try mat classes. They cost less, and many gyms include them. Compare in reformer vs mat pilates.
  4. Check the pack expiry. A cheap 20-pack that expires in two months costs more per class if you only use twelve.
  5. Ask about payment rules. Some studios accept HSA or FSA funds for certain plans. Club Pilates does for Unlimited and Annual memberships, through Truemed at participating studios[2].

FAQ

How much does a pilates class cost?

In our directory, the median single drop-in class costs $39, from 61 studios that publish a price. The full range runs $10 to $99. Reformer classes usually sit above mat classes. Class packs and memberships lower the per-class cost if you attend often enough to use them.

How much is a monthly pilates membership?

It depends on the studio and the plan. Club Pilates, which publishes national ranges, charges $79 to $169 a month for 4 classes, $139 to $305 for 8, and $189 to $397 for Unlimited[1]. Independent studios set their own prices, so check their pricing pages or ask for a written quote.

Is a class pack or a membership cheaper?

A membership is cheaper per class if you use every class it includes. A pack is cheaper if you attend irregularly, because you only pay for what you take, as long as you finish it before it expires. Divide the price by the classes you’ll realistically take, then compare the per-class numbers.

Why is pilates so expensive?

Reformer classes need a machine for each student, so a room holds fewer people than a gym class, and the rent and instructor’s pay are split fewer ways. Studio prices also follow local costs. Mat classes cost less to run and often cost less to take. Intro offers and packs bring the price down.

How much is a private pilates session?

Private sessions cost more than group classes because one instructor works with one person. Our directory doesn’t yet have enough published private prices to give a reliable median, so check studio pricing pages in your city. Many studios sell privates in packs, which lowers the price of each session.

Are pilates classes cheaper than personal training?

A group pilates class is shared among several students, so it usually costs less than one-to-one training. A private pilates session is closer to personal training in format and often in price. Compare the per-session cost of each option in your city rather than relying on national averages.
